How to Add Facebook Comments System in Blogger

In the past, we have already covered How to Add Google+ Comments, Disqus Commenting system and LiveFyre Commenting system in Blogger. Recently, one of our users asked us how to add Facebook Comments in Blogger? Today in this article, we will show you How to Add Facebook Comments System in Blogger. We will also discuss the Pros and cons of using Facebook Comments on your website, so that you can make an ingenious decision whether to for it or not.

Advantages of Facebook Comments in Blogger

Facebook is the most viral social networking site, so it might be the reason why one should always think about making use of all the features that it provides to the publishers and developers. However, I would not push anyone to start using Facebook comments without knowing its advantage. Every site has their own priorities and concerns but for the sake of an ongoing argument, let us first take a look at the following pros of adding Facebook Comments in Blogger.

Whenever someone likes or reply to their comment, Facebook sent an automatic notification to user.  The author or other users might also receive the same notification if they are following the topic.

Unlike Google+ and others, it provides multiple commenting options. For example, if someone is not a Facebook user then he can use his Yahoo, AOL or Outlook id to comment on your website, so your visitor never gets locked out.

Whenever a registered user is caught spamming, Facebook automatically treats him with a security code while the rest of the loyal visitors keep on commenting without any worry. If that spammer didn’t even stop then, Facebook holds the authority to disable him from commenting.

Disadvantages of Facebook Comments in Blogger:

You are totally depending upon Facebook. Though it is a reliable brand, but sometime minor glitches happen. What would you do if Facebook suffers some down time. Since, all the scripts you are using is hosted on Facebook, so you never know when the comments get disappear.

Nonetheless, it is unlikely to happen because Facebook is a well-known site with quality backup server. However,  you never know what would be the next thing to come.

How to Add Facebook Comments in Blogger:

Step#1: Creating a New Application:
The First thing you need to do is to create a separate App ID for your application and that can be done easily through Facebook Developer. Login to your Facebook account and go to Facebook Developers website. This places allow Developers to manage their apps hosted at Facebook, click on Create New App button.

A Small pop out will appear which would ask you to insert little information about your application. There are two fields, write the App name and press the continue button.

Now you will land of a new page which would provide you your application details like App ID, App name and etc. You need to copy these keys and enter them later.

Step#2: Installing Facebook Comments in Blogger:
The First thing you need to do is to Login into your Blogger account. Now from the dashboard go to Template >> Edit HTML and search for the following highlighted HTML attribution. (Quick Tip: This code is usually present at the first lines of your template’s coding).
<html ...... xmlns:expr='http://www.google.com/2005/gml/expr'>

Now just next to the highlighted code (as shown above) add xmlns:og='http://ogp.me/ns#'. Once everything is down, it would somewhat look like this. (Quick Tip: Make sure you leave a space between these two codes).
<html xmlns:og='http://ogp.me/ns#' ...... xmlns:expr='http://www.google.com/2005/gml/expr'>

Now you need to search for the <body> Tag. After finding it, just below it paste the following code. Make sure to replace the YOUR_APP_ID with your Facebook application id.
<div id="fb-root"></div>
<script>
window.fbAsyncInit = function() {
FB.init({
appId : 'YOUR_APP_ID',
status : true, // check login status
cookie : true, // enable cookies to allow the server to access the session
xfbml : true // parse XFBML
});
};
(function() {
var e = document.createElement('script');
e.src = document.location.protocol + '//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js';
e.async = true;
document.getElementById('fb-root').appendChild(e);
}());
</script>

Now you need to add Facebook Open graph Meta Tags, We have written a detail tutorial on it that can be viewed from here. However, search for </head> and just above it paste the following code. Make sure to replace the YOUR_APP_ID with your Facebook application id.
<meta property="fb:app_id" content="YOUR_APP_ID" />

Step#3: Adding Facebook Comments in Blogger:
Last step is to implement Facebook Comments using the HTML Code. In the template, search for <b:includable id='comment-form' var='post'> and just below it paste the following HTML Coding. Incase, you are unable to find <b:includable id='comment-form' var='post'> then you can paste it just below <div class='post-footer-line post-footer-line-1'></div> (Make sure you repeat the process because there are more than 1 tags on you theme)

<b:if
cond='data:blog.pageType == "item"'>
    <div
    style='padding:20px 0px 5px 0px; margin:0px 0px 0px 0px;'>
        <script
        src='http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1'
        />
        <div>
            <fb:comments
            colorscheme='light'
            expr:href='data:post.url'
            expr:title='data:post.title'
            expr:xid='data:post.id'
            width='550'
            />
        </div>
                </div>
                </b:if>
Note: You can also customize the widget of the comment box by adjusting 550 the numbers in the below code.
Congratulations: You have successfully learned how to add Facebook Comments  in blogger blog. You can also preview your posts to see everything is working in an order or not.
We hope this tutorial has helped you in adding Facebook comments in blogger. Are you using Facebook comments in your blog? If yes, then please take few minutes to tell us about your experience in the comments below.

How to Make Money Using Facebook

Facebook isn't a secret money pile just waiting to be found, but it can be a reliable source of extra income with some work and a clever approach. Read the steps below to learn how to make money using Facebook.

1.Make great posts.

The foundation of any successful plan to make money with social media is good content, and lots of it. On Facebook, that means a stream of interesting links, images, and updates every day.
Search for a niche and fill it with quality content. It doesn't have to be a niche nobody else is filling, but it should be specific enough that it's clear to the casual observer. For example, maybe you'll post content for cat lovers, mothers, or people with a certain political affiliation. If you plan to market a product with your account, be sure to link the product to your posts in some way.Consider opening up another Facebook account and keeping it separate from your personal account. Use this account for your posts, and link them on your personal Facebook account to let people know about them. Depending on the approaches you use, you might even consider using multiple extra accounts. NOTE: Facebook will not allow multiple accounts using the same email and/or phone number. You may even get a request to verify a new facebook account through a code texted to your phone.
Give it time. Let your account build up interest over time by continuing to provide fresh and relevant content every day.

2. Make a commitment to earn.

The only way to reliably make money using Facebook is through persistent work. Like any job, setting a schedule and sticking to it is the key.Organize. Whatever strategy you plan to pursue, you'll probably have to take care of several things every day to make it work for you. Plan out the order and times you'll do them in advance.Saturate your market. Making money with Facebook is more of a numbers game than anything else. Since marketing on Facebook costs nothing except time, you can market as much as you want – even to a point that would be prohibitively expensive any other way – and let the percentages and statistics work their magic one penny at a time.Add aggressively. One of the best ways to increase the number of people looking at your page is to simply add people as friends as often as you can. Most won't accept, but some will.

3. Find an affiliate program or other link-type advertising program.

Affiliate programs provide you with a unique ID and marketing materials, and then pays you a commission based on how much business you generate. So try to find a Good Affiliate marketing website and start earning.Most websites you've heard of offer such a program. Since there's no cost to the site for letting you do this, practically anybody can become an affiliate for as many sites as they want.Start with well-known brands. Amazon offers a competitive affiliate program that pays a percentage of any purchase a person makes after clicking through from your post, even if it's not anything you advertised. Apple's iTunes program has an affiliate program as well.Add in smaller programs. Though less likely to generate money on a given day, you can diversify and gradually increase your affiliate revenue by offering a wide range of advertising services to many different businesses.

4. Sign up.

Once you've decided to market a company as an affiliate, search the company's site and fill out the required forms. This should always be free, and usually only takes a few minutes.Don't ever pay to become an affiliate.

5. Add accounts.

Make a Facebook account for each affiliate program or group of programs you sign up for. This allows people to follow your pages based on the things they're interested in, rather than having to sign up for one page full of all different kinds of ads.As mentioned previously, you can use your primary account to repost things from the other accounts periodically, exposing those pages to the audience you've built.

6. Promote your programs.

 Make posts for each of them daily, and maintain your accounts fastidiously. With luck, and a good central account with a lot of followers, your affiliate accounts will begin to get followers as well. Whenever anyone clicks your posts and buys something from one of your affiliates, you earn money.

7. Sell your e-book on Facebook.

If you were wise and wrote a book that caters to the audience you've been building up with your primary account, you've got a receptive, ready-made audience for your sales pitch.Advertise it several times a day, both blatantly and at the end of other posts. Be creative and try to engage your readers. Get them excited about reading your book.If you have other accounts (such as affiliate accounts), advertise your book there, too.Always provide a link for reader to click to visit the page where they can purchase your book.

8. Sell Fanpage posts.

So you have a big facebook fan page but still not sure how to make money from it. Selling posts on your fan page is the easiest way to make money apparently.Sign up  with get1deal.blogspot.com and make sure you have minimum 1000 likes on your fan page.Add your fan page to Get Free Deals and confirm you're the owner of the page.Set a price per post for your page. Now this is important, make sure you set the price correctly because No one would buy posts on your page if the price is too high.

Top 10 Facebook tips

Below is a listing of our top 10 tips for the popular social networking website Facebook.

Hide users, games, polls, etc.

It quickly gets annoying seeing some users posts, game invites, polls, etc. Hovering your mouse to the right of the post and clicking the Hide button as shown below can hide any post. After pressing the button you'll have the option to hide that user or in the case of a Facebook application the option to hide that application from ever showing up on your profile.

To unhide someone or unblock an application click the Edit Options link in the bottom right corner of the news feed as shown below.
Greasemonkey and FB Purity
Although Facebook does not give you the option to hide friends, friend requests, or various notifications, these can be hidden using browser add-ons. If you're running Mozilla Firefox, Chrome, Opera, or Safari we suggest installing the Facebook Purity add-on.

Update your privacy settings

Click Account in the top right corner of the Facebook window and then click Privacy settings to adjust who is capable of seeing what on your Facebook profile. We highly recommend going through all the privacy settings to verify your privacy is properly protected.
Anything that is not set to friends only or friends of friends can be seen by anyone searching on the Internet. Below is a few things we recommend for most users.

  1. Under Search in Privacy settings uncheck Public Search Results. Adjusting the settings prevents users from finding your account and profile picture in search results such as Google
  2. Under Application settings, make sure you're only allowing applications you want to have access to your information. Applications that you grant rights to can have access to your Facebook profile information.
  • If you're curious to see how a program or web page connect to the Facebook API can see your profile see Tip135.

Use the Facebook top bar for navigation

Knowing how to properly navigate is vital if you want to get the most out of Facebook. Below is a brief description of each of the available options in the top bar as shown above.
Home (facebook logo) - Clicking this logo takes you to your wall (News Feed) that shows all friends recent posts.
Friend requests - If any friend requests are waiting to be approved this icon shows a notification of how many friends are waiting for approval. This icon can also be clicked when you want to view any friend recommendations or search for friends on Facebook.

Messages - This section allows you to send and receive private messages between one or more of your friends.
Notifications - Any time a friend or Facebook application creates a new post you'll be notified in this section. Clicking this icon shows all recent notifications. To change notifications including any Facebook applications or games click the See All Notifications link at the bottom and check or uncheck what you want to be notified on.
Search - Finally, the search box in Facebook can be a powerful tool that can be used to quickly find any current friends or people on Facebook. Also, searching for terms such as a company name, product, sports team, music band, etc. will find fan pages and groups that can be joined.

Modify your account notifications

Keep your e-mail and your cell phone clean by updating or eliminate Facebook notifications or keep more up-to-date by adding new notifications. Facebook notifications can be added and removed by clicking Account link in the top right corner, then Account Settings, and then clicking the Notifications tab.

Top News and Most Recent

By default Facebook displays your wall postings in the News format, which means it only displays posts it believes are most relevant to you. These results are based on your past interaction with your friends. If you want to see every post made by all your friends that are not hidden click the Most recent link in the upper right section of your news feed as shown in the above picture example.
If you want to adjust who shows up manually click the Edit Options in the bottom right corner of your news feed.

View High School work friends

If you've added your High School or previous Work locations to your profile, quickly see all classmates and co-workers on Facebook by clicking the link in your Info tab under your profile.

Quickly change profile picture

Your profile picture can be changed by visiting your profile, hovering the mouse over your current profile picture, and clicking the Change Picture link in the top right corner.

Don't post private information on friend's walls on in comments

When you make a post on a friend's wall or in any of their comments realize that any of their friends are going to be able to see that post. If you want for something to remain only between you and a friend send them a Facebook message instead.

Suggestions and random friend invites

As you get more friends on Facebook it will begin making friend, groups, and fan suggestions. These are suggestions made by Facebook and not your friends. Unless these are something you're interested in they can be ignored.
This same rule can be applied to people who may want to be your friend that you don't know. If you don't know someone don't accept his or her friend invite. Once someone becomes your friend they'll have access to any information your friends are capable of seeing.

Tag your Facebook friends in your photos

Always make sure to tag any of your Facebook friends that are in pictures you upload. However, never tag someone who is not in the picture. When someone is tagged in a photo that picture is automatically added to that persons profile and is a great way to share pictures with all friends.

50 Tricks to Get More People To Like Your Facebook Page(Facebook trick)

There are over three million active facebook pages, and these pages are gaining millions of new fans every day.

Yes, I just said fans.

Although the button has changed from “Become a fan” to “Like,” the action of joining a brands page remains the same. Facebook pages are still fan pages.

With Facebook’s announcement of The New Messaging there are more reasons to like Facebook, and Facebook pages, than ever.

I hope you enjoy this post about 50 Ways to Get More People to “Like” your Facebook Page, and if you do I would really appreciate it if you share these tips with your friends, and join the ProHackingTricks fan page.

Here are the tips:

1. Post a Status Update

Post a status update mentioning your facebook page.

Don’t be afraid to outright ask people to join your facebook page.  Ask and you shall receive.

Give them a great reason why they should join, tell them news, or find a creative way to mention and link to your page

2. Get fans to upload and tag photos

If you host (or attend) an event with several of your fans take a bunch of pictures, post them to your page, and then ask your friends to tag themselves in the pictures.

If you can get your fans to upload pictures to your page, or tag themselves in pictures you uploaded, this will post to their walls as well and will lead to additional traffic for you.

3. Offer an incentive for people to sign up

Using some static fbml you can create a dynamic facebook landing page with a “reveal tab” that contains content that is visible only to fans of your page.

The more valuable your incentive is, the more people will be compelled to click the “Like” button to access it.

Examples of exclusive content could be: An exclusive Video, an exclusive whitepaper/.pdf, exclusive pictures.

Stay tuned to ProHackingTricks.  In one of our upcoming posts will explain how to set up a “reveal tab.”

The image below shows different levels of increasing effectiveness for acquiring new fans.

Involver offers apps (and several of them are totally free) that make it easy to create a “Fan Gate” containing incentives, like a file or coupon, that will cause more people to “Like” your page.

4. Contact admins of groups related to your page

Groups are more powerful than pages in terms of their messaging ability. Pages send updates, but groups send messages directly to a users facebook inbox, triggering an email alert.

If you contact the admin of a facebook group with some valuable content that adds value to their readers then this can help them nurture their community and help you build yours.

5. Get people to join your page via SMS

Send a text message to 32665 (FBOOK) with the words “fan yourusername” OR “like yourusername” (without the quotes).

This feature is ideal when you’re in front of a live audience.

6. Install a page Badge

Facebook Badges are a simple, yet effective way to link to your facebook profile.

Unlike widgets, badges are simply images, and will load much faster.

7. Install a facebook “Like Box” into your site

Installing a “Like Box” is an excellent way to allow visitors to your site become fans without even leaving your page.

The like box builder tool makes it easy to customize the size of your like box, the number of connections to display, and even the color scheme.

Shown in the image below is the rarely used “dark” color scheme.

8. Use status tagging

Status tagging is a cool and fairly new feature of facebook.

This feature allows you to tag any page or person by entering the @ sign and then typing the name of the page or person you want to tag.

9. Suggest your page to friends

Use the “suggest to friends” feature of your page. Use this feature sparingly. Personally, I try to only invite people go my page once because I know it annoys me when multiple people invite me.

If you have many friends you might want to consider using the “invite all” Google chrome extension, rather than clicking hundreds or thousands of times.

10. Install a Like Button into your site

Installing a like button allows visitors to like your page, and when they do this posts the their activity stream.

This can send more traffic to your site and if you have a facebook “Like Box” and other content promotion your fan page, since this will help you convert your visitors into fans.

11. Connect your page to Twitter

Connecting your page to Twitter is an excellent way to convert your twitter followers into facebook fans.

Using this strategy will cause all of your posts to be sent to twitter, with a link back to the facebook version of the post.

www.facebook.com/twitter

12. Link to Your Page as  a Place of Employment

The info box uner profile pictures is being phased out, so now if you want an omnipotent link on your profile to your page you will need to list your Page under employment.  Once you do this your Facebook Page will appear under your name on your Profile.

13. Install commenting on your landing page

This will allow people to comment on your page, even if they are not a fan.

Any comments made can broadcast to news feeds and lead to more traffic to your page.

Setting up facebook commenting requires registering a facebook application, so act on this tip with caution unless you are comfortable with code.

14. Leverage Traditional Media

Since facebook is so widespread you can use any forms of traditional media and achieve results.

Newspapers, Media Buys, Radio, and TV all work, but are often very costly.

To maximize your promotion offer a free gift to those who join you page.

15. Newsletter Promotion

If you do email marketing send a message to your subscribers letting them know about your fan page and consider including a link to your fan page in every email.

16. Email Signature

Every email you send is an opportunity to link to your facebook page.

Check out the email signature tool wisestamp for a creative way to link to your social profiles.

17. Get business cards promoting your Facebook page

Business cards are cheap.

You can get 500 business cards from Vista Print for $1.99.

For this minimal investment you can get up to 500 new fans for your page!

Throw a link on your card and people will almost certainly check it out.

If you’re pressed for space in your design all page urls can be shortened from facebook.com to fb.me, or fb.com.

For example, www.facebook.com/get1dealfree, www.fb.me/get1dealfree, and www.fb.com/get1dealfree all point to the same page.

18. Fiverr

Fiverr is an online marketplace where services are sold for five bucks.

Check out their “Social Marketing” and “Advertising” section and here you will find some people who are willing to suggest your page to 5,000 of their friends for just $5.

You will need to make the person who will suggest your page to their friends an admin in order for them to do this for you, but if you are willing to place your trust in someone to do this and they come through for you this will allow you to pick up dozens if not hundreds of new fans.

19. Create a Landing Page with Static FBML

By creating a custom landing tab for your facebook page you can increase the conversion of visitors to fans.

20. Run a “fans only” contest

An excellent way to run a fans only contest is using wildfireapp.

There are rules and regulations around running a contest on facebook so be sure to check out the facebook Statement of Rights and Responsibilities (“Statement”) before you run one.

21. Link to your page from your profile

Edit your Facebook profile information to include promotion for your Fan Page.

At the bottom of the info section of your profile you can include links to any websites you are affiliated with.

The more links you can build to your Page, the more traffic you will be able to send to your Facebook Fan Page. I am constantly seeking new opportunities to build links that will send traffic to my Fan Page.

22. Blog Commenting

Comment on blogs and in the website section use a link to your fan page.

23. Link to your facebook page from your linkedin profile

Linkedin gives every user three slots for links to whatever you’d like right on your profile.

You can make the anchor text of these links whatever you like, so I recommend using a call to action such as: Join my facebook page.

24. Upload video to facebook

Facebook video is very underrated, and exceptionally powerful.

When you embed a facebook video on another website this video includes a watermark link in the top left corner to the fan page it came from.

25. Watermark your videos with a link to your website

Using a video editing program include a link to your website.

I use camtasia to add my watermarks, and to record any screencast I create, and this program comes with a free 30 day trial.

26. Create a memorable URL

If you go to facebook.com/username you will be able to create a custom URL for your page.

Remember that this cannot be changed once it is set, so choose wisely.

27. Deliver an exceptional experience

Although facebook pages are no longer officially considered “fan pages” if you work to create fans of your brand many of them will certainly seek out and join your facebook page.

Strive to deliver an awesome experience for those who interact with your brand. Go above and beyond when engaging with your community and they will spread the word.

A famous article called 1,000 true fans maintains that they are all you need to create a thriving business. Don’t try just to get people to click “like” but instead seek to create raving true fan who will spread your word far and wide.

28. Link it up

This tip comes from @garyvee and it’s a good one: link it up!

Hyperlinks are what weave the web together so use them often and every time you do you are opening up another gateway into your fan page.

29. Flip the funnel

Drive your fans back to your website for new blog posts.

Make sure that your blog has social sharing and many of your fans will “like” your blog posts and tweet it out to their followers on twitter as well.

30. Track your growth with Facebook insights

Facebook insights shows you how many fans you have over time, and some fairly detailed demographic information as well.

Using this knowledge you can analyze what activities drive the most growth, and then duplicate your success.

31. Analyze your demographics with insights

Facebook demographics are a powerful feature of insights that allows you to determine the gender and age of the people in your page.  Once you know this information you can focus your content to appeal to the age group and gender of your fans.

Here is the demographic information of the FacebookFlow fan page:

32. Talk and Blog about your page

Word of mouth does not start itself. Get the conversation going by mentioning your facebook page in blog posts and in every day conversation.

33. Learn more about Facebook

The more you know about facebook the more you can use this knowledge to drive the gowth your community.

34. Drive more traffic to your website

Use these tips to get more free traffic to your website. Make sure that your “Like Box” is featured prominently, and plenty of this traffic will “Like” your page.

35. Produce Epic Content

If your blog content is epic this will drive the growth of your page in a serious way.

Epic content has the best chance of going viral and if a blog post goes viral this also causes it to move up in the rankings in Google, leading to even more traffic, a percentage of which will convert to fans.

36. Install a like button into your posts

Installing a like button into your posts will help drive extra traffic to your posts and it will also show that facebook is an integral part of your brand.

If you have a self hosted wordpress blog I recommend installing the WP FB Like plugin.

The more you can integrate facebook with your site the more likely people will be to join your facebook page.

37. Make a Facebook like sign

Blue Sky Factory created a  Facebook “Like” sign tool that you can use to create a cool image that will help promote your facebook page.

38. Buy Them

Although I do not recommend this option, there are several services out there that sell facebook likes.

The first 1,000 fans are usually the hardest to get so a service like this might help you get the critical mass needed to get more genuine organic fans.

39. Run a targeted ad campaign

Facebook advertising is exceptionally powerful due to the ability it offers to hyper target your market.

Facebook ads can be targeted based on age, location, and interests.

40. Turn your customers into fans

If someone likes you enough to buy your product then there is a good chance that they will like you on facebook as well.

Rig up your “thank you” page with a facebook “Like Box” and you’ll be good to go!

41. Advertise your page

The more you advertise your page the more fans you will be able to achieve.

Facebook advertising is a smart way to promote since you can target specific demographic and interest groups.

You will need a sales funnel in place in order to justify an advertising budget and I recommend setting this up prior to advertising on Facebook.

42. Use Hootsuite to manage your page

By using Hootsuite to manage your facebook pages you can maximize engagement by scheduling your posts ahead of time to go out when they will get the most attention.

Facebook posts get the most engagement early in the morning and a few hours before bed.

43. Get an attractive profile picture

A picture says a thousand words, so to really optimize your business page you should use the largest profile picture possible.

Currently the maximum profile picture size is 200 x 600 pixels.

44. Do a “fan of the month” promotion

By highlighting one of your best fans every month you indirectly encourage fans to engage more, so that they can win the coveted fan of the month title the next month.

Offer a monthly prize, such as a cool free product or service related to your brand, and the competition for this title will only increase.

45. Message your friends and ask them to join

This tried and tested method takes more ground work, but this method will allow you to build relationships and target the friends that you think are the most relevant to your page.

46. Include a link to your fan page in your forum signature

If you are active in any forums you will have the option to attach a “signature” to every post that you write.

Throw a link in your signature to your facebook page, and it will be clicked.

Do your best to add value and answer questions with your posts, and people will be more inclined to click your link and join your page.

A link with a call to action is more likely to get clicked than a link alone, so go with “Join my Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/get1dealfree” instead of simply: “www.facebook.com/get1dealfree

47. Create a redirect URL

Creating a redirect to your facebook fan page is one way to “presell” the people who click it on joining your page.

For example, if your link is: www.yourdomain.com/joinmyfacebookpage anyone who clicks it will probably join your page.

48. Give away fan page swag

Websites like Zazzle make it easy for people to customize swag, such as the nifty “you like this” t-shirt below.

If you gave away shirts (or mugs, or stickers) like this with your facebook url included you could easily amass an army of walking billboards for your facebook page.

49. Find more facebook friends

The more friends you have, the better your chances will be that some of these friends will join your fan page.

Facebook has a “Find Your Friends Tool” that allows you to import your contact list from a variety of email clients, or an email list.

This tool also displays “People you may know” which I have found is very good at suggesting people that have many mutual friends as me.

50. Share this article with your facebook friends

If you share this post with your facebook friends and it will become obvious to them that getting more fans important to you, and if you have included a link to your facebook page in your info box or the “Website” section of your website there is a good chance that they will click it.

Protect Facebook accounts from hackers Guide by Hackingloops : Most of our users have asked us about that how to protect Facebook accounts from Hackers. Facebook is most used Social Networking platform and its always on target for hackers. But on the same side, Facebook’s internal security is good enough that 90% of hack attempts don’t succeed. Facebook itself continuously working on security and new techniques to protect Facebook accounts from Hackers.  But there are some scenarios which Facebook cannot protect Facebook accounts because these require user’s awareness in order to protect Facebook accounts.  Facebook cannot prevent your account from Social Engineering attacks, honey traps and freebie luring as all these things require user awareness. Today we will discuss all techniques or traps which hackers can use to hack your Facebook account passwords and how we can protect Facebook accounts against these traps. So let’s begin..
Note: This tutorial will be helpful for every Social Network and Even Securing Email accounts and its a must read for all Hackingloops users.

Protect Facebook accounts from Hackers :

Facebook Internal Settings to make Protect Facebook accounts :

This is most important step to protect Facebook accounts.  Below are some points listed which you need to update for securing your Facebook account.

  1. Create Strong Passwords so that it cannot be easily guessed and it should be familiar enough that you can type it real quick, so that someone cannot shoulder smurf or see it while you are typing. Always use a combination of uppercase, lowercase, number and special character combinations and try to keep it at least 8 characters long. I am not focusing much on length because brute force attacks wont work on Facebook, they already had protection for that. But always keep your passwords strong and avoid typing passwords in front of other people to avoid shoulder smurfing.
  2. Update your mobile number along with recovery email address. But why? Because now every time when you or someone change your password you will get a reset link on your mobile and recovery email address.
  3. Update your security questions to that it cannot be easily guessed. For example, choose a security question like what is your favorite city and answer it like your favorite car or some other code but never city.
  4. Update list of 5 trusted friends which can be used to recover your password with help of 3 friends. If you choose it wisely, then this 3 friend hack will never going to work as it will always show 3 friends out of your chosen list.
  5. You can also use 2 way authentication method which is called Activate login approvals in Facebook. But note that you will always need your mobile for this as it send a unique code on your mobile every time you attempt to login.
  6. Always unclick on Keep me login check box shown on login page. This will prevent your sessions to remain alive after certain period of time i.e. time till which Facebook persistent cookie will expire. Which usually expires when you close your browser or delete your history.
  7. Always Sign off after usage.
These were some internal things.

Protect Facebook accounts from Social Engineering attacks :

There are multiple social engineering techniques which hackers nowadays use in order to hack Facebook accounts or other Social Engineering accounts.

Prevention again Phishing attacks :

Traditionally hackers use Phish or Fake pages to trap users to harvest their Facebook accounts passwords. But as technology getting advanced so do hackers, they are advancing even faster than technology. Below i will touch base latest Phishing techniques and techniques that hackers use and ways to protect Facebook accounts from those traps.

  1. Traditional Phish or Fake Pages : Hacker creates exact same copy of web pages and uploads them to some free web server and distributes its link via email, open chats, embed in images etc. But it is not that effective as most people are aware and look for URL in the URL address bar and when they find it different from actual one they don’t login and sometimes even report to authorities of Fake pages.  So always check the URL before logging into your account.
  2. Social Login Traps : Nowadays you guys might have noticed that some sites provides a social login feature i.e. you can use your social networking account to login into their websites. Hackers are using this to trap users, they are setting up fake websites and provide some luring features likes coupon codes, freebie items, free full software’s, templates, themes, movies or music etc. Its normal tendency of human to go for such lures and they end up giving their credentials to malicious hackers.
  3. Tabnabbing Traps : Even more advanced phishing techniques in place in market nowadays. Hackers are creating malicious websites mentioned in above point and using meta refresh and auto redirect features to redirect users to their fake pages or phish pages to capture their login credentials. For example, hacker’s create malicious websites and put meta refresh tags and redirects on particular time intervals say 2 minutes or 5 minutes. When this time interval passes suddenly their fake page pops up asking you to login into your accounts.
  4. Emails with HTML and Word Docs : One more awesome attack practice hackers are nowadays using to trap users are by sending emails with HTML and DOCs as attachment. When user opens those attachments, a vb macro or meta refresh executes which pops up a fake social networking page and asks for your credentials. For example, hackers send emails for some lottery wins, job opportunities, offers to your emails having HMTL and DOC attachments and when you open these mails you end up sharing your login credentials with hackers.
  5. Freebie Traps : Have you guys ever give a thought that why anyone would provide you anything for free. For example, hack a software and share with you for free or upload a 2GB movie to some website or torrent and make it available for free , or even simpler purchase a music cd and upload songs to some website and provide it for free to you? Off course not. What they do is that they attach their malwares or spywares or Trojans or keyloggers with them with help of binders and when you download it, you compromises your machines with hackers which they can use for their purpose whenever they require. Most hackers spread their botnets with help of freebie traps and use your machines for their malicious works like DDOS attacks. So always avoid using torrent, free download websites if you want to remain secure.
